Picking the Right Carpet for Your Home
When it comes to choosing the right carpet for your home, there are a variety of carpet types available. When selecting the best carpet for your particular lifestyle and needs, many factors should be considered. Whether you are looking for something plush and luxurious or something more practical for a high-traffic area, there will surely be a type of carpet to match your needs. Each type of carpet is designed to provide certain levels of comfort, durability, stain resistance, and style that can meet the needs of different lifestyles. There is a wide range of carpet types, from friezes and plushes to loop piles.
Consider easy-to-maintain carpets
Easy-to-maintain carpet types are the way to go, especially if you have an active and busy lifestyle. Polyester carpets are great options for providing low maintenance and hassle-free upkeep. Industry professionals love polyester carpets for their softness and ability to resist staining. Not to mention, they are durable and fade-resistant carpets. Polyester carpets are terrific for high-traffic areas in the home while always providing a clean look.
For those looking for a low-maintenance type of carpet, a low-cut pile is the way to go. Low-cut pile carpets are much easier to clean and maintain than carpets with a thicker or higher pile. They are usually made of polyester or nylon rather than wool, making them more resistant to wear and tear than other carpets. Low-cut pile carpets also don't attract or absorb dirt and dust as easily as thicker carpets, so vacuuming and cleaning can be completed quickly and easily. If you're looking for a carpet option that is easy to maintain, then a low-cut pile is the best choice for your home and lifestyle.

Nylon Carpet
In overall performance, nylon is the most versatile of all fibers, providing excellent durability and flexibility in creating various carpet styles. Nylon is the most commonly used carpet fiber in a wide range of cut pile and loop pile styles. Nylon also has excellent color flexibility and uniformity; many nylon yarn systems are exceptionally soft. Though not inherently stain-resistant, most carpets made with nylon feature a stain-resistant carpet treatment for protection against household spills and stains.
Polyester (PET) Carpet
Polyester offers exceptional softness and color clarity and is naturally stain and fade-resistant. Although polyester is less versatile than nylon, carpets made of polyester fiber also perform very well.
Polypropylene (olefin) Carpet
Unlike other fiber types, polypropylene will not absorb water, so it is solution-dyed. Solution dyeing is a process in which color is built into the fiber when it is created, making the color an inherent part of the thread. Polypropylene color will not fade, even when exposed to intense sunlight, bleaches, atmospheric contaminants, or other harsh chemicals or elements.
Polypropylene is used in loop pile construction, where resiliency is less critical because it is not as strong as other fibers.
PTT (Triexta Polyester) Carpet
PTT (Polytrimethylene Terephthalate) is a polyester fiber, first patented in 1941. Still, it was not until the 1990s, when Shell Chemicals developed a low-cost method of producing high-quality 1,3-propanediol (PDO), the starting raw material for PTT polyester, that commercial production of the company’s Corterra polymers was possible. PTT features good resiliency and excellent inherent stain resistance.
